At approximately 8:30am, December 31, 2008 Brandon RCMP members along with Brandon City Fire Department responded to a barn fire that occurred near Provincial Route 270 in the RM of Elton.

Seven head of cattle were inside along with general farming equipment, all of which were lost.

The structure had been completely destroyed by fire when emergency crews arrived.

A damage estimate has not yet been obtained. The incident is still under investigation, however is not being treated as suspicious.
