On September 20, 2009, Carberry RCMP officers, with assistance from Brandon and Neepawa RCMP officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the Rural Municipality of Elton.
A police investigation led to the execution of a warrant to search the property. Police found and seized, 19 cannabis marijuana plants, 1/4 pound of marijuana, 2 sawed off shot guns, another shot gun and a rifle unsafely stored and plenty of related growing and drug paraphernalia.
Police believe that this marijuana grow operation has been on going for several months due to the sophistication of the grow environment. The drugs seized by police have an estimated street value of just under $20,000.00.
One man from the RM of Elton will be charged with the production and possession of a controlled substance, 2 counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and 2 counts of unsafe storage of a firearm. He was released on a promise to appear for court in Brandon on November 12th, 2009.
The investigation is continuing.
