Following an investigation by the Oakbank RCMP into a possible marijuana grow operation, on Saturday, September 26, 2009, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed on a property in the RM of Springfield, approximately 3 miles from Anola.

Police located and seized approximately $700,000.00 worth of marijuana, 2 prohibited firearms (one of which was loaded), several other insecurely stored/unregistered non-restricted firearms and 2 prohibited devices, namely, overcapacity firearm magazines.

Three adults were taken into custody, and one of the three, an adult male, was later released pending his first appearance in Beausejour Provincial Court on December 1st, 2009. The other 2 adults were released without charge.

The adult male resident of the location in question will be facing the following charges:

• Production of a Controlled Substance (marijuana) S. 7(1)CDSA

• Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking S. 5(2)CDSA

• Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm S.95(a)C.C., numerous counts Careless Storage of a Firearm S. 86(1)C.C.

• 2 counts of Possession of a Prohibited Device S.91(2)C.C.

The other 2 adults were released with no charges pending at this time.
