On December 2, 2009 at about 1pm, RCMP Ste. Rose Detachment received a report of collision on Highway 5, 8 kilometres south of McCreary.
A passenger van traveling south bound struck a north bound semi-truck and trailer unit, resulting in a head-on collision.
The driver of the passenger van, a 57-year-old male from the Swan River area, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is not being released. The driver of the semi-truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and released from hospital.
Road and weather conditions are considered a factor in this collision. A snow fall mixed with high winds reduced visibility.
No charges are contemplated and the investigation continues.
