Last week, poor weather conditions and icy roads played a factor in numerous collisions.

On January 24, 2010, in the early morning hours, there was a collision between a blue 2001 Chev Cavalier and semi truck cattle trailer on Highway 1 in the RM of Tache. Both vehicles were west bound on Highway 1 near Highway 501 when the Cavalier attempted to pass the semi-trailer and lost control, colliding with the side of the trailer. No one was injured.

On the same day, on Highway 200 in the RM of Ritchot, A lone male driving a 2006 Chev automobile slid off the road near St. Adolphe early in the morning after entering a right hand curve. Slick road conditions caused the vehicle to enter the ditch and collide with an unoccupied black Nissan Sentra already in the ditch. There were no injuries.

On January 25, 2010, on Highway 311, A 23-year-old male was examined and released from hospital with no injuries after losing control of his 2005 GMC Sierra truck on slick roads east of Niverville and rolling into the ditch. Charges are not being considered and road conditions were contributing factors in the collision. The collision occurred at approximately 6 pm.

Also on January 25, 2010, on Highway 1 in the RM of Tache, an early morning collision occurred near the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 206, when a 2006 VW Golf ran into the rear of a flat-deck trailer / semi stooped on the Highway due to blizzard like conditions. There were no injuries and the vehicle was removed from the ditch the following day. Visibility was a significant factor in the collision.

On January 27, 2010, on Highway 207 at Highway 206, a mid-day collision occurred when the driver of a grey 2000 Chev Blazer, a 48-year-old Lorette man, was traveling south on Highway 206 and entered the intersection in the path of a red 1986 F250 truck traveling east on Highway 207. The driver of the truck, a 44-year-old St. Anne man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Ste. Anne Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Blazer was uninjured and has been charged for proceed before safe to do so under the Highway Traffic Act. Neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the collision.

On January 28, 2010, a single vehicle rollover occurred 3 miles south of St. Malo on Highway 59, when a north bound white 2001 Buick Century attempted to avoid another vehicle which was slowing down. Icy roads caused the driver to loose control and flip into the ditch. The occupant, a lone 73-year-old woman was uninjured. Charges are not being considered.
