At approximately 9am, on March 3, 2010, St. Pierre Jolys RCMP responded to a three vehicle collision on Gendron Road in the RM of Tache.

RCMP reported that a white 1999 Pontiac Grand AM traveling north on Gendron Road ended up in the ditch in an effort to avoid a head-on collision with a southbound school bus near the intersection of PR 405.

The 17-year-old male driver of the Grand AM had been attempting to pass a northbound school bus on Gendron Road in heavy fog when he noticed the southbound school bus. Evasive actions by the southbound school bus driver avoided a collision with the Grand AM but a green 2006 Chev Silverado following the bus was unable to stop and struck the bus in the rear.

The driver of the Chev Silverado, a 53-year-old male was uninjured. The occupants of the Grand AM, a 17 and 15-year-old, were also uninjured. Occupants of the school bus, 2 teen-aged students and 3 adults, were subsequently examined by ambulance and released, with no injuries suffered.

The collision has been determined to have been caused by driver error and poor visibility due to fog. Charges of passing without having a clear view contrary to Section 116(1) of the Highway Traffic Act have been laid against the driver of the Grand AM.
