On May 2, 2010 at about 6:30pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP responded to a report of a downed aircraft in the Milner Ridge area of the RM of Lac du Bonnet.

Investigation revealed that a single engine Cessna 152 aircraft was en route from Ontario to the St. Andrews airfield when the pilot encountered bad weather.

The pilot, a 50-year-old man from Stonewall Manitoba, made an emergency landing on Provincial Road 214. The aircraft made contact with an overhead power line while landing, knocking out power to some area residences.

The pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft and land safely on the roadway. The aircraft sustained moderate damage and was removed from the highway.

There were no other persons aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident and there were no injuries reported.

Manitoba Hydro restored power to the area a short while later, with only minor traffic delays during the incident.

RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board continue to investigate.
