On May 3, 2010, at approx 3:20pm, Lundar RCMP were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Highway 6, approximately 1 kilometre north of Oak Point.

An investigation revealed that a northbound pick-up truck had slowed down to turn west off of Highway 6, when another northbound pick-up truck collided into the rear of the first truck.

Both occupants of the pick-up truck that were struck, were initially transported to the Eriksdale Hospital for treatment and have since been transferred to the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg for further care. Both are now in stable condition.

The passenger of this vehicle is believed to have not been wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck during the collision. The driver was found to be using a seatbelt.

Both occupants of the pick-up truck that struck the turning pick-up were also brought to the Eriksdale Hospital, but were released a short time later. Both occupants are believed to have had their seatbelts in use at the time of the collision.

Alcohol is not being considered a factor in this collision. Speed is being considered as a contributing factor.

The investigation continues.
