On June 4, 2010, at 10:50am, RCMP Thompson Detachment were notified by Navigation Canada that an aircraft was coming in for an emergency landing due to engine failure.

RCMP Thompson, along with local Fire and EMS, responded to Highway 391, approximately 22 kilometres northwest of Thompson. All five passengers on-board the plane, along with the pilot, exited the aircraft after the pilot was able to safely land on the highway.

The aircraft was flying from Laurie River (north of Pukatawagan) and heading to the Kelsey Dam when the right engine failed. The pilot attempted to reach Thompson airport, however, was forced to land before reaching the airport.
