On July 5, 2010 at about 7am, Oakbank RCMP, as well as local Fire and Ambulance service, were dispatched to the scene of a fatal accident in the RM of Springfield, Manitoba.
Initial investigation indicates that a 45-year-old male from Winnipeg had been doing repairs on a vehicle at the location. He was under the vehicle working when the jack supports gave way fatally pinning him under the vehicle.
There are indications that the man may have been at the location for a number of days before being located.
As the incident occurred at a business, Workplace health and Safety have been notified and are assisting with the investigation.
At this time the accident appears to be non work related, as the victim was not associated to the business, but merely using space there.
There were no reports of any other injuries or persons involved.
Police and safety officials continue to investigate.
