Plants seized

Approximately 1700 plants in various stages of cultivation were seized in the drug bust.

During the evening hours of September 29, 2010, RCMP executed a CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) search warrant at a rural residential property located in the RM of Woodlands.
 
Stonewall Detachment members were assisted by the East District Green team, RCMP Winnipeg Drug Section, RCMP Police Service Dog Section, as well as the RCMP Emergency Response Team.
 
Police located a marijuana grow operation at the residence. A preliminary account shows that approximately 1700 plants in various stages of cultivation were present with a value of around $1,700,000.
 
Two people were arrested at the location. A 32-year-old male from Winnipeg, Manitoba and a 31-year-old man from Burnaby, British Columbia. Charges are pending under the CDSA, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, and production of cannabis marijuana contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
 
Police continue to investigate.
