On October 2, 2010, at 8:30am, Headingley RCMP as well as local Emergency Services and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle semi-trailer collision.
 
The collision occurred at the intersection of the Trans Canada Highway and Highway 248 at Elie, Manitoba. The intersection is controlled by traffic signals.
 
Initial reports indicate that an eastbound semi and a northbound semi had collided at the intersection. There were a total of three persons in the vehicles.
 
One person from each vehicle was transported to hospital and are reported to be in serious/critical condition.
 
There were no hazardous materials involved. A small fuel spill was contained by emergency personnel.
 
An RCMP traffic analyst attended to assist with the investigation. Police continue to investigate in order to determine the cause of the collision.
