On October 18, 2010, at about 4pm, Oakbank RCMP as well as local fire and ambulance were dispatched to the scene of a pedestrian and motor vehicle collision on Highway 207 between the Trans Canada highway and Highway 15.
 
Initial investigation indicate that a 1996 Chrysler Intrepid was travelling northbound on Highway 207 when it struck a female signal person working in a construction zone. The driver of the Intrepid was a 67-year-old man from the RM of Springfield.
 
The victim, 21-year-old Brittany Murray of Winnipeg, was transported to hospital by ambulance in serious condition.
 
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst will be attending the location to assist with the investigation.

On the evening of October 18, Oakbank RCMP report that Brittany Murray has died in hospital as a result of her injuries. 
 
Police continue to investigate.

Update 02/21/11 2:25pm

Following a lengthy investigation into this fatal collision and after consultation with Manitoba Justice, on February 16, 2011, the now 68-year-old driver, Mitchell Blostein, of the RM of Springfield has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.

On February 20, he was served a summons and will be appearing in Beausejour Court on April 12, 2011.
