The results are in and four new people will be taking up the role of councillor effective noon today (as per the Manitoba Municipal Act).

Despite the dismal weather, 2,690 voters turned up to make their voices heard last night. This number together with the advance, mail-in, mobile advance, and hospital voters, totaled 3,088 votes. Total number of eligible voters for this election was 8,612, meaning that 36% of the voter list took the time to vote. This number is slightly higher than past councillor elections (where the mayor was voted in by acclamation).
Tuesday, November 2nd is the Inaugural Council Meeting for the new council. The meeting includes the Council members declaring their Oath of Office, the Disclosure of Personal Interests, and the Appointments of Deputy Mayor and Council representatives for the Jake Epp Library Board, Seine Rat River Conservation District, and Steinbach Community Development Corporation.
Council’s first regular meeting will take place Tuesday, November 16th.
