Bothwell Cheese was the proud recipients of the first-place trophy in the marble cheddar class at the prestigious 81st Annual British Empire Cheese Show.

This is the third year in a row the New Bothwell-based cheese processor has taken first place with its Marble Cheddar. It was also awarded third place this year for its Monterey Jack cheese.

“The British Empire Cheese Show is one of the most highly regarded international cheese competitions in Canada,” says Bothwell Cheese President and CEO Ivan Balenovic. “This award once again highlights the extraordinary talent of our skilled cheese makers who put extra care into every cheese they make. It is owing to their hard work and dedication that our Marble Cheddar is the best – and has been acknowledged as such for the past three years.”

The British Empire Cheese Show has a long and distinguished history. Since 1927, cheese makers from around the world have entered the competition, in hopes to win one of its highly coveted awards. Billed as Canada’s largest display of Canadian and international cheese, the show is presented by the Central Ontario Cheese Makers Association.

“This triple crown for Bothwell Cheese proves that some of the best cheeses in the world are produced locally here in Manitoba,” says Balenovic.
