On November 29, 2010, just before 6pm, Lynn Lake RCMP as well as local Emergency Services and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a fatal house fire in Lynn Lake, Manitoba.

Witnesses on scene reported that a family had escaped the fire, but a baby was said to be still in the residence and could not be located. An RCMP officer and a community member entered the burning house through a basement window to look for the baby but were eventually turned back by heat and burning debris.

The body of a 20-month-old infant boy was later located inside the burnt out residence. An autopsy has been scheduled to take place in Winnipeg.

The home is reported to be a complete loss. No damage estimate is available and no cause has been attributed to the fire at this time.

The Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner will be attending to assist with the continuing investigation.
