On December 15, 2010, at about 7:45am, Souris RCMP as well as local Emergency Services and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a three vehicle collision on Highway 2, about 6 miles east of Souris, Manitoba.

Initial reports indicate a 2005 Chevrolet Blazer traveling eastbound, collided head-on with a westbound semi trailer.

At the time of the collision, there was a third vehicle, a 2003 GMC Envoy that had gone off the road previously and was in the ditch. When the two vehicles collided, they went into the ditch, hitting the GMC Envoy.

The driver and lone occupant of the semi trailer, a 37-year-old man from the Melita area, did not require medical treatment.

The driver and lone occupant of the GMC Envoy, a 39-year-old woman from the Souris area, was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.

There were two occupants in the Chevrolet Blazer. The driver, a 52-year-old woman and a passenger, a 21-year-old man, both from the Souris area. The driver of the Blazer had to extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. Both were transported to hospital with serious, undetermined injuries.

Road conditions were reported as partially snow packed, with blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Police continue to investigate.
