On December 24, 2010, at about 12:30am, Selkirk RCMP members on patrol in Petersfield, observed a man operating a snowmobile in an erratic manner in the parking lot of a hotel.

The man was swearing at police while spinning his snow machine around in circles and “fish-tailing” around the parking lot, taunting officers. He was so intoxicated that he eventually fell off of his snowmobile directly in front of police while driving in circles around them.

The man was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. His snowmobile, a 2011 Polaris, was impounded and towed from the location.

The 35-year-old man from the RM of St. Andrews, was later released from custody and is to appear in Selkirk Provincial Court on February 4, 2011.

RCMP remind the public that impaired driving is completely preventable.
