It’s book fair time again, and the ladies at the Bethesda Health Care Auxiliary need your help.

For several years the organization has collected thousands of books and other reading materials for resale. Money raised during the four day event is earmarked for special purchases that benefit the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach.

To ensure the continued success of the sale your donations are needed.

Verna Thiessen from the Bethesda Auxiliary says that books, records, tapes, magazines, puzzles, and games will be gratefully accepted until the week of the sale.

While most types of reading material are accepted, the group gratefully declines encyclopedias, weekly magazines and condensed Readers Digest books.

Donations can be brought to the Clearspring Centre on Tuesday afternoons from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The drop-off location is the former StoneyBrook Dance located in the mall.

Thiessen also invites any interested volunteers to the sorting sessions.

The goal this year is to raise close to $57,000. The Auxiliary has decided to purchase a bladder scanner and a bariatric unit for Bethesda Hospital.

Over the past four years, over $60,000 has been raised for the group’s projects by the annual book sale.

The Bethesda Auxiliary Book Sale is scheduled for March 18 to 21, 2009, at Clearspring Centre in Steinbach.

Since 1980, the Bethesda Health Care Auxiliary has presented almost $300,000 worth of equipment to Bethesda Hospital. The group dedicates their time and effort to raise money for medical equipment that is needed but, unfortunately, is not funded by Manitoba Health.
