The Steinbach Arts Council Presents “First Time Out” exhibit by Jeremy Tid starting on February 2 in the Hall Gallery at the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre.
Born in York, England, Jeremy grew up surrounded by medieval architecture. He dropped out of art at school at age 14 and two years later joined the British Army. After 13 years of military service he opted to become a truck driver and while living in Ireland took up painting again, inspired by the Galway landscape.
His greatest inspiration is contemporary artist David Shepherd. Jeremy says that it’s Shepherd’s attention to detail that drew him into his ‘fan club’.
Jeremy’s subjects are varied and include architecture, locomotives, both steam and diesel, animals in their natural habitat and landscapes. His dream is to depict at least part of the Sistine Chapel ceiling in a domestic house.
The public is invited to attend the opening ceremony on February 2 at 7pm and refreshments will be served. There is no Admission, but a Toonie Donation is requested.
