The City of Steinbach has announced that due to the warmer weather, the Steinbach Winter Carnival will be postponed by one week.

The good news is the weather has been positively lovely the last few days. The bad news is that the skating rink and snow jumps that were built at A.D. Penner Park for the City’s Annual Winter Carnival are in rough shape. The condition has led to the decision to postpone the Carnival by one week to February 26th.

“We want people to have a first-rate winter experience,” said Parks and Rec Programmer Jason Peters, “and to ensure that happens, we need a little more snow and colder temperatures.”

Although forecasters are calling for cooler temperatures and more snow before Saturday, Peters explains it will take a little longer than a day or two to get the snow jumps and skating rink back to a workable state.

We hope everyone will join us next Saturday, February 26th for the 9th Annual Winter Carnival!
