A Kamsack man has been arrested and charged with numerous offences after attempting to outrun the police.
On April 20, 2011, at approximately 7:30am, members of Kamsack RCMP were dispatched to a residence in Kamsack in regards to a mischief complaint.
A female resident at this location had the window smashed out of her van as well the tires had been slashed. Shortly after this, Kamsack members encountered the suspect operating a pick-up truck at the Kamsack Co-op gas station. Members attempted to pull this individual over, the suspect drove away at a high rate of speed through Kamsack. Kamsack RCMP issued a notice to neighbouring Detachments to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle.
At approx 11:30am, members of Roblin Detachment located the suspect vehicle on Highway 83, south of Roblin. The suspect, who was standing outside the truck at the time, again attempted to flee. After a brief struggle the suspect was taken into custody. At the time of his arrest a loaded sawed-off shotgun was located in the truck.
37-year-old Clinton Ducharme of Kamsack has been charged with numerous offences as a result of the investigations in both Kamsack and Roblin. These charges include mischief, resisting arrest, flight from police, impaired driving, dangerous driving, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of undertaking. Additional firearm charges are pending.
Ducharme has been remanded in custody and will be appearing in Dauphin Provincial Court on April 26, 2011.
