A 15-year-old Selkirk youth has died after the vehicle he was in rolled near the Lockport Bridge this morning.
On November 11, 2011, at about 3am, Selkirk RCMP Detachment and EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle collision just west of the Lockport Bridge on Highway 44.
A 19-year-old male driver, with two male passengers on board, was heading westbound on Highway 44 when he lost control of the car and rolled. A 15-year-old male passenger, who is a resident of the Selkirk area, was ejected from the vehicle and perished. Both the driver and the other male passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police say that alcohol and speed are considered contributing factors in this accident.
The RCMP continue to investigate assisted by an RCMP Traffic Analyst.
