Following a two year term as Chamber President, Keith Unger has chaired his last official meeting as President of the Board of Directors for the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce and will now serve as Past President.

The Chamber Board held its elections for the role of President and has chosen Sjoerd Huese as the incoming Chamber President.

Born and raised in The Netherlands, Huese immigrated to Canada in 1989 and comes to the Chamber from the finance industry in his current role as Commercial Account Manager with Steinbach Credit Union. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with his Bachelor of Commerce Honours, and an Advanced Certificate in Accounting and also spent time at the University of Guelph. Huese has served on many boards in the past including time as President of the Manitoba Feed Industry Association, a Delegate on the Manitoba Pork Council, Chair of the Eastman Immigrant Services Advisory Board and local and regional Sports Associations.

Huese joined the Chamber board in Fall of 2004 and is looking forward to taking on the new role as President.

This month the Chamber Board also bid farewell to Vice President Crystal Hildebrandt who has stepped down to focus on other endeavors. In her place, the Board has elected Cameron Bergen to fill the role of Vice President.

Bergen was raised here in the Southeast and is passionate about our community. Bergen has been with HyLife Foods (formerly Hytek) for 11 years and brings to the Board valuable insight about the agriculture industry through his role as Production Analyst with the company. Bergen joined the Chamber Board of Directors in Fall of 2009 and looks forward to the coming term in his new role.
