On August 2, 2013, just before 7am, Gypsumville RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal off-road vehicle collision on Little Saskatchewan First Nation.
Initial police investigation revealed that a Polaris four-wheel ATV with two riders left the roadway and collided with a utility pole.
Police say that the ATV operator, a 46-year-old man from Little Saskatchewan First Nation, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Fairford, was treated at the scene for unspecified injuries.
RCMP report that there were no other vehicles or persons involved and that neither of the riders was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Speed and alcohol are also considered factors.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the investigation.
