The city is reporting that property tax statements for Steinbach have been mailed and are due September 30th, 2013.
Tax statements are mailed to the current owners at time of printing. It is the property owners’ responsibility to obtain a copy should they have recently purchased a property and not received a tax statement.
“Steinbach continues to have one of the lowest municipal tax rates and the City will continue to ensure tax dollars are being put to good use based on careful consideration,” said Brian Hrehirchuk, Director of Finance.
Tax bills issued this year total nearly $24.5 million, 46 percent of this amount funds a variety of Steinbach projects, including paving the Aquatic Centre parking lot, purchase of a new fire department pumper truck, and new sidewalks and pathways. It also funds municipal programs, including the City’s summer beautification program, street maintenance, policing and fire protection. The remaining 54 percent of the annual tax levy is forwarded to the Province of Manitoba and the Hanover School Division to fund various school system projects and programs.
If you have not yet received a copy of your tax statement or if your mailing address has changed recently, please contact City Hall immediately at 204-326-9877 or e-mail taxes@steinbach.ca.
