Residents who missed out on Steinbach’s first pile of compost will have another chance to get some rich compost for free.  Although the Steinbach Landfill’s current compost supply ran out last week, Eldon Wallman, Solid Waste Department Head, says more will be ready soon.

“The first pile only lasted about two weeks,” said Wallman. “The next pile to be screened is almost double in size, so there will be plenty more to go around.”

In three to four weeks, the second compost pile at the landfill will be screened and made available, again at no cost, to Steinbach and area residents.

The City of Steinbach is pleased to offer this opportunity and encourages the public to make good use of their own compost bins at home or bring their yard waste to the landfill to become part of next year’s compost pile.
