In the early morning hours of August 16, 2010, Steinbach RCMP received a call from a member of the Steinbach Security Services who was making patrols in the Clearspring Centre parking lot.

The Security Officer had stopped a suspicious vehicle with several very young people inside. When the police attended they determined that the male driver was only 13-years-old and the vehicle was a stolen from the City of Steinbach.

The investigation resulted with the 13-year-old male being charged with this offence as well as two other recent vehicle thefts in the Steinbach Area. The youth was released for a court date in September.

The second investigation occurred as well on August 16, 2010. An off-duty RCMP member was traveling to work when the officer noticed suspicious activity near the Country View School. The member stopped to investigate and located a male and female on the school property with a Honda dirt bike.

Working members attended and arrested the two individuals. An investigation determined that the Honda dirt bike had been stolen from New Bothwell.

20-year-old Michael John Klassen of Steinbach and a 17-year-old female have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime. The pair were also found in possession of several items believed to be stolen. More charges are possibly pending and Klassen was remanded into custody. The female youth was released to her parent for a court date in September.
