The Steinbach Arts Council presents “Moments” by Bernice Brandt and Cathy Sawatzky from January 5 to 31 in the Hall Gallery at the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre.

Bernice grew up on a farm close to Blumenort. She loved animals and enjoyed art. As she grew older Bernice began to enjoy creating things with her hands. She worked at a craft shop for a few years. And, for a few years, she had her own craft/ teahouse in her barn loft, where she did woodworking . All this time, she wanted to learn how to paint. Finally, she took painting lessons and has not stopped since. Bernice works part time out of her home and in her free time likes to paint or do other creative things.

At an early age, Cathy discovered that she really enjoyed activities of a creative nature.  During that time, her creativity mainly consisted of drawings. Over the years, Cathy has dabbled in various areas requiring an artistic flair and absolutely enjoys every aspect of painting, and the use of the broad spectrum of colors. The palette of color inspires and allows her to express the moments and emotions in life, which are at times joyful, and not so joyful other times. Cathy feels that God has gifted her, and longs to share that gift whenever she can, through her artwork. God has truly inspired her in many ways.

The public is invited to attend the opening ceremony on January 5 and refreshments will be served. There is no admission, but a Toonie donation is requested.
