On October 27, 2011, at approximately 1:15pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP Traffic Services, as well as Portage la Prairie EMS and Portage la Prairie Fire Department, responded to a 2 vehicle collision on Highway 1.

James Anthony Rush from the RM of La Broquerie is facing 49 firearms related charges in an ongoing police investigation.

On October 24, 2011, at 11:30pm, Swan River RCMP as well as local Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal single vehicle rollover on Highway 10 near the junction of PR 279, north of Swan River.
