Manitoba Beef Producers (MBP) is continuing to monitor the developments surrounding a confirmed case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in a beef cow in Alberta.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada is hopeful the recent resolution of Canada’s dispute with South Korea over the BSE beef issue will result in a resumption of free trade negotiations with that nation.

The Government of Canada is calling on the World Trade Organization (WTO) to begin consultations to address South Korea’s continuing unjustified ban on the importation of Canadian beef, the Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, announced.
