Special interpretive programs and free park entry are being offered to mark the Labour Day long weekend in Manitoba’s provincial parks.
Manitobans are encouraged to enjoy a broad range of activities in the great outdoors with free entry to Manitoba’s provincial parks today, Saturday and Sunday (July 19 to 21) in celebration of Canada’s Parks Day on July 20.
A new natural playground, waterfront family picnic plaza and upgrades that make the beach and boardwalk more accessible to families and people with disabilities will ensure Grand Beach Provincial Park remains one of Canada’s greatest summer destinations while growing the local economy.
A Manitoba fishing licence will not be required on June 8-9, and entry to provincial parks will be free June 7-9 to encourage Manitoba families and visitors to enjoy a day in the great outdoors.
The Manitoba Parks Reservation Service will begin taking reservations online and by telephone for cabins, yurts and group-use areas only on Monday, March 25.
Manitoba families will see more yurts, electrical campsites, play structures, Wi-Fi in campsites and better beaches as well as more modern washrooms and showers in their provincial parks as part of more than 50 new initiatives in Building the Parks Province.
The hundreds of thousands of Manitoba families and tourists who visit Manitoba’s parks each year will be able to enjoy smoke-free public beaches and playgrounds beginning in the summer of 2014.
Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship advises all licensed and permitted trapping has been banned effective immediately in provincial parks that have heavy year-round use by families and pets.
