The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association and the Western Barley Growers Association launched a joint website dedicated to promoting grain marketing freedom for wheat and barley farmers in Western Canada.

The website, wheatandbarleyfreedom.ca is a one-stop resource for farmers, media, politicians and industry to learn more about the benefits of moving to an open market for wheat and barley in western Canada.

“There’s a lot of excitement in western Canada about the new opportunities that will be created under an open market for wheat and barley,” says Kevin Bender, President of the Wheat Growers. “This website will give farmers and others a chance to find out more about what this change means for them.”

“We decided it was important to have a single website where everyone could learn about all the positives that marketing choice will bring to the prairies,” says Brian Otto, President of the Barley Growers. “This is a good news story. It’s all about increasing farmgate returns and creating a welcoming climate for new investment in wheat and barley in western Canada.”

The website will feature an interactive blog so farmers and others can ask questions about what this change might mean for them. The website will be updated regularly with stories and information on the exciting path toward grain marketing freedom.
