On August 30, 2014, at about 3am, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a call to assist two hikers on the Mantario trail in the Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Police say that two males from Winnipeg, were hiking on the Mantario trail when one of them became injured.  As night came on and the weather changed for the worse, they called for help.

With the support of Manitoba Conservation and Water stewardship and a float plane from Venture air in Lac du Bonnet, Lac du Bonnet RCMP members rescued the pair of hikers on Ritchie Lake at about 4pm.

RCMP would like to remind that public that if you are planning on a hiking trip, always ensure someone knows when you are leaving and when you are expected to arrive at your destination. Check local weather conditions and bring food, water and provisions to make a fire if need be.
