On September 11, 2014, at approximately 10:40am, Yellowhead RCMP responded to a farm accident near the community of Sandy Lake, Manitoba.

Police say that a 44-year-old male farmhand, from Keeseekoowenin First Nation, was in the box of a grain truck that he was unloading when he began sinking into the grain. Attempts were made to pull him out from the grain but were unsuccessful. The victim was released from the box of grain when the chute was opened.

EMS attended and the victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. On September 14, 2014, the victim succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital.

Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
