On May 19, 2016, just before 5pm, Minnedosa RCMP responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 5 near Road 98N, in the RM of Rosedale.

Initial police investigation revealed that a northbound car lost control after the vehicle left the pavement onto the soft shoulder. While trying to correct the situation, the vehicle traveled across the oncoming lane and struck a southbound pickup truck.

RCMP report that a 72-year-old Saskatoon woman, a passenger in the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers, the deceased’s 82-year-old husband and a 72-year-old Neepawa man were transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment and are in stable condition.

Police say that contributing factors to this collision have not been identified, however alcohol has been ruled out. A Traffic Analyst is assisting the ongoing investigation.
