A new school year began this week and for students, parents, teachers and staff it is a time of adjusting to new schedules and realities.
Because of the growth of the southeast region it is always a busy time filled with changes when school resumes. This is especially true this year as the Hanover School Division (HSD) welcomes a new middle school (Clearspring Middle School) and the change over of the former Junior High School to a middle school (now called Stonybrook Middle School). The new school is a very welcome and overdue addition to the school system in our region which has been bursting at the seams as a result of recent population growth. The administration and staff of the Hanover School Division have been working hard to get both the Clearspring Middle School and the Stonybrook Middle School ready for the school year as they prepared to welcome students into the new environment.
Despite the increased student count, classroom space challenges and the ever growing need for special assistance for some students, the Hanover School Division has long been seen as a very desirable place to have children attend school. As a parent of a child in the early years of education in HSD, I have seen first hand the impact on children of a dedicated and professional teaching and administrative staff and we are fortunate to have that in our schools. A safe and supportive learning environment is the best head-start we can give our children and it’s great that we have professionals dedicated to that goal.
September also marks the return of post-secondary education classes. For those students beginning or returning to classes at university or college I wish you well in your studies. More and more those that are looking for careers need to obtain some level of post-secondary education and it is an important investment in your future.
Above all I wish all of the students and staff that are returning to classes this fall a safe year and a productive time of learning and personal growth.
