Wednesday marked a historic milestone as Queen Elizabeth became the longest-reigning monarch in Canada’s modern era, surpassing her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.
Many Canadians hold a special fondness for Queen Elizabeth and the place she has in Canada’s history. To mark this historic event, the Manitoba Legislature was lit every evening until Friday with the Queen’s emblem. In addition, a commemorative coin is also being issued by the Royal Canadian Mint.
