The City of Steinbach has an opening for a 14-month Term Property Tax Clerk in the Tax & Revenue Department.

The Tax Clerk performs routine and complex clerical, administrative, and data processing work in the billing of property taxes. Performs customer service activities with property tax account customers.

Essential Duties:

• Reconciles property tax activity with the general ledger monthly
• Receives & responds to property tax account transactions & assessment questions in person, phone, and email
• Prepares reminder notices for unpaid accounts
• Maintains and provides information for any Manitoba Tax Credit programs
• Determines and processes transaction adjustments to property tax accounts according to internal policies
• Maintains the TIPP/PAP program & processes related transactions as required
• Maintains and updates the City’s tax roll database.
• Maintains data, processes payments and corresponds with banks/mortgages companies
• Assists with the Board of Revision preparation; preparing and reconciling all mill rate and local improvement levy schedules as required; and preparing & mailing property tax bills annually

Qualifications:

• Graduation from Grade 12 or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, accounting, data processing; along with one year of office or related experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to work with various types of accounting software, and databases
• Experience in a municipal or related field performing various administrative, reception and support duties preferred
