Community Safety Officer

The Rural Municipality of Hanover is accepting applications for the position of:

Community Safety Officer

We are seeking a full time professional, outgoing individual as our new dynamic municipal Community Safety Officer (CSO). The successful candidate will work as a team and report to the Manager of Protective Services. This role is responsible for enforcing municipal bylaws and select provincial statutes, patrolling the community, and promoting public safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include enforcing RM bylaws and select provincial statutes like The Highway Traffic Act. The role also involves community patrols, investigating complaints, issuing warnings and tickets, preparing court reports, and providing testimony. Community engagement to promote public safety and collaboration with enforcement partners such as the RCMP are also important.

Qualifications:

• Ability and experience working with the public;
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal skills and conflict resolution abilities;
• Possess a valid Class 4 driver’s license or willing to obtain;
• Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel;
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team;
• Ability to prepare detailed reports;
• Have minimum Grade 12 or equivalent;
• Post-secondary education in law-related studies or related field or satisfactory combination of education and work experience is preferred;
• Required certifications include completion of a recognized Community/Bylaw Officer training program (or willingness to obtain) and current First Aid/CPR.
• Must be able to obtain a Criminal Record Check and Child & Adult abuse Registry Check;

Compensation:

The Rural Municipality of Hanover will provide a competitive compensation package, complete with benefits, to the successful applicant according to municipal salary grid and based on qualifications and experience. The job has a wage range of $33.56 to 39.48 per hour.
