Steinbach RCMP are reporting that a Richer, Manitoba man was recently arrested and will be facing numerous charges after he drove his vehicle through a patio building at the La Broquerie bar.
Shortly after midnight, on June 16, 2022, Steinbach RCMP received a report stating that a vehicle had driven through the patio building at the La Broquerie Bar. Witnesses reported that the driver was believed to be highly intoxicated at the time.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers were advised by staff members that the driver had fled the scene. Police were able to see the vehicle in the distance and after approaching it, observed the vehicle spinning out and getting stuck in the ditch.
RCMP report that the driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old Richer man, was later arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was returned to the Steinbach RCMP Detachment where he eventually refused to comply with demand for alcohol samples.
Police noted that the Richer man will be facing further charges and will appear at Steinbach Provincial Court in September.
