Selkirk RCMP are reporting that a 38-year-old man from the community has been arrested and is facing numerous firearms related charges after police stopped the vehicle he is was in for driving without the lights on.

On April 29, 2023, at approximately 3:20am, Selkirk RCMP were on patrol on Main Street in Selkirk when an officer noticed a black SUV with five occupants driving at night with no lights on.

Police say that a traffic stop was initiated, and when the officer went to present the written warning for not having the lights on, the officer noticed open alcohol in the vehicle. Subsequently, a search was initiated which resulted in the discovery of a sawed off rifle and pepper spray.

RCMP report that the driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Selkirk woman, received a written warning in relation to the lights. One of the passengers, 38-year-old Chad Langlois from Selkirk, was taken into custody and charged with a number of firearm related offences.
