The governments of Canada and Manitoba have now opened the second round of program intake for the Canada-Manitoba Job Grant in 2023, which helps businesses meet training and workforce development needs for new and existing employees.

“Our government along with the Government of Canada have jointly invested $10 million in this initiative for 2023-24, which will help Manitoba employers invest in their employees,” said Economic Development, Investment and Trade Minister Jeff Wharton. “This funding will support Manitobans in finding good jobs that provide training opportunities and more chances for career advancement, and support employers in providing these opportunities to their staff.”

The Canada-Manitoba Job Grant is a joint initiative between both levels of government and provides cost-shared funding support for employers to purchase third-party-delivered training for new and existing employees. Employers are eligible to receive a maximum of $10,000 per employee and $100,000 per training project. Small employers with fewer than 100 employees can apply for up to 75 per cent of eligible training costs, while larger employers can apply for up to 50 per cent of training costs.

The summer intake for the program began on August 21.
