MPI is further expanding its contingency planning during the ongoing labour interruption by resuming Class 1-4 and Air Brake knowledge testing. Customers in Winnipeg whose knowledge test appointments have been cancelled will be contacted directly by MPI to reschedule.

MPI is prioritizing tests by the order in which they were cancelled – this means customers who have been waiting the longest will be offered a test first. No new test appointments will be booked at this time; testing is only being made available to customers whose tests have been cancelled.

Tests will be offered at Cityplace and the Physical Damage Centre in Winnipeg. MPI is working to resume Class 1-4 and Air Brake knowledge testing in Brandon in the coming days. More information is available on MPI’s website.

Resuming Class 1-4 and Air Brake knowledge testing supports our valued partners and stakeholders, including commercial driver training schools, by enabling them to restart the intake process that has been on hold during the labour interruption.

Classes 1-4, which include ambulances, buses and commercial vehicles, require more in-depth training and testing procedures than Class 5 passenger vehicles. MPI is considering options to address Class 1-4 road testing with public safety as the priority. For now, Class 1-4 road testing remains on hold as MPI moves forward with knowledge and air brake testing across these classes.
