Steinbach RCMP are reporting that a 16-year-old La Broquerie youth is facing charges in connection to a recent careless driving incident that occurred in a residential area of Steinbach.
On February 20, 2024 at approximately 3pm, a 16-year-old male driver from the RM of La Broquerie was observed speeding northbound on Giesbrecht and running the stop sign at Reimer Avenue. The driver then made a U-turn and drove southbound on the sidewalk along Giesbrecht Street before being stopped by RCMP members in an unmarked police vehicle.
RCMP report that the male driver was charged for careless driving and disobeying a traffic control device. He was also issued a serious offence notice and the vehicle was towed.
Police say that the youth was fined $970 in total for both offences.
