Oakbank RCMP are reporting that a man from the Rural Municipality of St. Clements is currently in hospital after suffering serious injuries due to a collision involving a sedan and semi truck.
On August 17, 2025, at 9:38pm, Oakbank RCMP received a report of a serious collision on Provincial Road 207, near Highway 1, at Deacon’s Corner in the RM of Springfield.
Officers responded to the scene immediately and observed a 4-door sedan on the southbound shoulder, facing south, with extensive front-end damage. A semi truck, with no trailer attached, was parked ahead and had a warped frame.
Investigation determined that the semi truck was turning south on Provincial Road 207 from Birkett Way. As it was turning, the driver felt a hard impact from the back which was the result of a 4-door sedan colliding into the back of the truck.
Police say that the driver of the semi truck, a 31-year-old male from Calgary, was not injured. The driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old male from the RM of St. Clements, was transported to hospital in critical condition. Members noted that the man is now stable but remains in hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP report that the 4-door sedan was unregistered and had no driving lights on. Speed and alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision.
Oakbank RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate this incident.
