Stonewall RCMP are reporting that a large quantity of drugs were recently seized before being dropped by a drone at the Stony Mountain Institution, located in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood.
On February 8, 2026, at 1:05am, Stonewall RCMP were notified by the Stony Mountain Institution that a drone had just dropped off a package suspected to be drugs.
Members were nearby and pulled over a vehicle that had been turning west on Road 72N from Highway 7 in the RM of Rockwood. Officers approached the vehicle and observed a black hard case labeled with the name of a drone manufacturer.
Police say that the two occupants of the vehicle were arrested, as well, a drone was seized that had been located at the feet of the male passenger.
Officers noted that the drone had a large package attached to it that could be released when triggered. The package contained balloons filled with drugs having an estimated institutional value of $600,000.
Drugs seized included approximately 355 grams of methamphetamine, 63 grams of cocaine, 60 grams of tobacco, and 59 grams of cannabis concentrate.
RCMP report that the driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old female from Winnipeg, was released without any charges. The passenger, 28-year-old David Mymin from Calgary, was remanded in custody and charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
