Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP are currently investigating a mauling incident where a female victim was recently attacked by four large dogs.
On February 14, at approximately 4:10pm, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP responded to a report of a female that had been mauled by four dogs on the Ebb and Flow First Nation.
Investigation determined that the 22-year-old female had been walking along Highway 278 in the community when the dogs, described as being a large breed, approached and attacked her. Two people witnessed the attack as it was occurring and helped the victim escape, return home, and call for help.
Police say that the victim suffered significant injuries as a result of the attack and was taken to hospital in Dauphin where she underwent surgery.
RCMP are working with local First Nation Safety Officers to identify the dogs responsible for the attack. Anyone with information connected to this incident is asked to call Ste.
