The Manitoba RCMP Roving Traffic Unit recently initiated a traffic stop that resulted in two arrests and multiple charges after drugs and a loaded handgun were found inside the vehicle.
Police say that a vehicle with two individuals inside was recently pulled over on Highway 2, within the RM of South Cypress-Glenboro. During the interaction with the vehicle occupants, an officer noted a controlled substance in plain sight, along with a prohibited weapon. The suspects were arrested as a result.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a loaded handgun, two kilograms of a substance believed to be cocaine, several grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, along with additional prohibited weapons.
RCMP report that 29-year-old Tyler Thorvaldson and 43-year-old Kyle Tkachyk of Elm Creek, are now facing numerous charges related to this incident, including possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
Members noted that Thorvaldson was also ticketed for driving a vehicle equipped with a radar detection device and carrying open liquor inside a vehicle.
