Niverville RCMP are reporting that a 42-year-old Emerson woman was recently arrested after being found sleeping in her vehicle while being parked on Provincial Road 200.

On March 23, 2026, at 8:15pm, Niverville RCMP responded to a report of an impaired driver on Provincial Road 200, north of the intersection of Provincial Road 305, in the RM of Ritchot. Police were told that the vehicle had been stopped in the middle of the northbound lane with two occupants sleeping inside the vehicle, creating a traffic hazard.

Upon arrival at the scene officers found the suspect vehicle parked in the dark with no lights on. Members subsequently discovered two females sound asleep inside the vehicle. Once the female driver was awakened, officers noted signs of impairment to which she was subsequently arrested for.

RCMP report that the driver, a 42-year-old female from Emerson, was taken to the St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP Detachment where she provided samples of her breath which were found to be over twice the legal limit of 80 mg%.

The driver, who will face charges of impaired driving over 80 mg%, was released for court scheduled for a future date in Winnipeg. Her driver’s licence was suspended and her vehicle was impounded.
